stripes and jewels

i was visiting my friends in Chicago where the polar vortex seemed to have been in full effect all winter. we took these photos the first day that down coats and lined rubber boots weren’t necessary and the sidewalks weren’t full of slush. i couldn’t have chosen a better weekend to visit this windy city, i got to debut my canvas ankle boots!
i added this chunky J.Crew necklace last minute. i had it packed in my bag with no intentions of wearing it with this outfit. its blue, green, gold and has a lot going on. my tee being white and neon… and basic, therefore, it needed to be spiced up and this necklace did just that.
the sunnies, found them at Neiman Marcus Last Call, they are MENS!
my dainty feather necklace is my new everyday staple. i am in love with all things feather related. i have a small feather collection started. including part of a Buscemi shoe box, a paper bag this scarf came in, magazine clippings and the paper this necklace came on which has the tiniest feather on it. hopefully, i will think of something creative to do with all my gatherings. anyways, i got this necklace at TOPSHOP in Chicago, it’s part of the Orelia collection.
scored these Rag and Bone booties at The Runway and who knew you could shop T.J.Maxx online?
hope you guys don’t get tired of seeing me in distressed denim 🙂

* i recently started going to this boutique called Southern Couture. i am ashamed to say it took me 4 years of living in this city to check it out, i would drive by it all the time. they carry amazing brands that can’t be found anywhere here in Memphis. i needed a nice jacket for an event to wear over a dress and found this amazing, simple, gray Leona.
