Spring Style for Cold Weather

spring style for cold weather Daffodiles and tullips have come and gone, the sun is shining more, spring is officially here and….. it’s still cold. It can be hard to dress for spring when temperatures are below 60 degrees. You want to reach for that dark colored puffy coat, knitted scarf and boots but then again, it’s almost spring!

To dress for spring when it’s cold you can still wear your chunky sweaters but choose a bright or pastel color like this beautiful lilac sweater I’m wearing. Spring colors in thicker fabrics are the perfect thing to wear this time of year. I tend to shy away from denim in the spring and summer since its ususally warmer.

This leopard skirt can transition through all the seasons. In the fall I’d wear this skirt with a graphic tee and a leather jacket with booties. In the winter I’d wear this with a turtleneck and a blazer or a denim jacket and boots. This is my spring look with pumps and a bright colored sweater and for the summer, I’ll wear sandals and a knotted tee. I love a versatile item of clothing! spring style for cold weather spring style for cold weather  spring style for cold weatherspring style for cold weatherspring style for cold weatherspring style for cold weatherspring style for cold weatherspring style for cold weatherThe Breakdown:

How fun is this lilca sweater with this leopard skirt. These skirts are everywhere on the streets and can be worn with heels just as easily as it can be worn with sneakers. You actually could sub these heels in this outfit for white sneakers or for those chunky sneakers that are rising in popularity.

How To Winterize Your Summer Midi Dress

red boots and a dress
Wow, Christmas is in 4 days!! I know some of you will start celebrating this weekend making rounds to all your family members. It’s fun to dress up and where a new outfit, whether it’s a dress, pants or a new sparkley sweater. Finding the new perfect outfit can also be stressful so here is a great idea…. repurpose your summer dress! In this post you can learn how to winterize your summer dress with a few simple things you already have in your closet.

I wore this dress during my Nashville trip in September. It was a very warm weekend so I styled this dress with black strappy heels, gold dainty necklaces and no jacket needed. I had wanted to wear this dress during the fall with booties and a denim jacket but I never got around to it. So here I am today wearing this gorgeous floral dress with an old sweater from years ago and my new red booties.

Wearing a sweater over a dress is a great way to reinvent an outfit. You can also do this with a fun skirt. Don’t worry too much about the fabric because you’ll have your chunky sweater to make your outfit winter ready, do stay away from linen. Stay clear of open toed shoes as well, remember we are winterizing our summer dress so wear a shoe that is either a dark color and or leather.

A sweater is definitely the way to go to winterize your summer dress. If you don’t have the right sweater play around with a few. This turtleneck sweater I’m wearing was actually in my pile to donate. I don’t really like the shape of it because it comes to a V in the front and the back and is long. It’s a great sweater to be worn with leggings but would never work with this dress. Until… I decided to knot it. I love how the sweater turned out. You can knot most sweaters that are somewhat long in length. If you don’t plan on knotting a sweater then choose a cropped sweater that hits at your waist.

It was nice to wear my pretty floral dress again but in 45º weather instead of 75º degree weather. I planned on wearing black suede booties since that’s a go to shoe for me in the winter but I recently ordered these red lether boots and absolutely love the color they bring to this outfit. My bag is a new purchase and it doesn’t fit much but fits my phone, keys and lip gloss which is all this mama needs on a day without her children. I love wearing this bag across my chest, it was easy to access and didn’t get in the way!
