How I Feel About Instagram Hiding My Likes

tiger print dress  Two months ago it happened. The likes from my Instagram account disappeared. At first I couldn’t believe Instagram actually hid them, I had heard so much about likes disappearing but wasn’t sure if it would actually ever happen. What I didn’t realize was that I was one of a select few. Now I’m figuring how I feel about Instagram hiding my likes.

tiger print dressA little bit of how it works. For my account and other accounts I see it will say “[name of Instagram account] and others” under the post where likes would typically appear. It may also say “[name of Instagram account] and hundreds of others” or “[name of Instagram account] and thousands of others”. A person having 100 likes looks the same as a person have 999 likes. What you can do is click on the “and others” to see which accounts have liked and I suppose you could count each account if you were desperate to know how many they had but are likes really that important?

As far as my account goes, it looks the same as other accounts. I do have a business account therefore I have access to view my insights. I can see my likes, profile visits, impressions, and more. When my likes first got taken away I would go over to my personal private account, view Living LeReve and check it that way. Totally cheating the system but I wasn’t used to not seeing my likes. The reason I feel better having access to my likes is to know what my followers wants to see more of. If a post only gets a couple of hundred likes I need to think why and make some changes. Low likes on a photo could be due to the time I chose to post, the caption or lack of, or just the photo itself.

I think it’s a good thing for Instagram to hide the number of likes. I never let the likes get to me too much, I would surely be confused why some photos did better than others or how some other accounts had more than me. Now that I can’t see how many likes other influencers have it has made me compare myself to others a lot less which is really important. Seeing others’ likes also influenced how I viewed their profile. If I was looking to follow someone new, I would check their feed and if I liked the overall aesthetic I would then look at their engagement. If this person had a high engagement rate then I was more likely to follow them because they seemed more legit rather than me just choosing to follow them solely on if I liked their images or not.

Hiding likes will be a good thing. It will take some getting used to for sure especially since the number of likes is such an important metric for content creators. But as long as we can see our own I think that is all we need.tiger print dress

The Breakdown:
Most of you know my son loves tigers so when I see tigers on clothes or a tiger print I feel like I need to have it. When I saw this tiger print dress I just had to try it on. At first I wasn’t sure about the shape of the dress itself. The dress is a midi length, has a high neck and long sleeves so I felt like there was too much fabric and covered up too much. Adding the denim jacket broke up the print which I love. I also added a belt to elevate the style of the dress. The dress came with a black fabric belt but I like the structure of my leather belt better.

Transitioning To Fall In Bermuda Shorts

fall in bermuda shorts
Summers in Ohio are perfect. Now that it’s towards the end of the summer and fall is around the corner the humidity goes away, mornings and evenings are in the 60’s but our days are still hot and sunny. A jacket is a no brainer to transition summer outfits to fall so I wanted to talk a little more about denim and why I’m transitioning into fall in bermuda shorts.

Bermuda shorts are my choice to start transitioning my wardrobe for fall. I have been wearing my cut off denim shorts most of the summer and it’s time to start covering my legs a little more. I’m not sure these shorts are the most flattering though. I have “athletic” legs that are on the thicker side and this style of short accentuates that. I am okay with that and I love how this outfit was put together.

These shorts can be easily worn with a graphic tee, cropped hoodie or a chunky sweater. I chose to add a denim jacket but a bomber jacket or blazer would work too. As far as shoes go you can wear sneakers (not running shoes), sandals or even pumps. I’m hoping to find a baggier pair of bermuda shorts, a boyfriend style to take into fall as well. fall in bermuda shorts  fall in bermuda shorts fall in bermuda shorts fall in bermuda shorts fall in bermuda shorts fall in bermuda shorts

The Breakdown:
You cannot go wrong with an all black outfit. Since it is still summer I added this lighter color denim jacket, it also is pretty light weight and has holes so it’s breathable. I wanted my look to feel modern and edgy so I added this sleek acrylic bag and dark sunglasses!

Styled Track Pants

styled track pants

I wore this outfit last week and you guys loved it! I’m not sure if it was because of my braided pigtails that I had never worn before or the side buttoned track pants I had never worn before. Either way, I loved this look too. Most of the outfit I wore was from earlier this fall or last year. I did a little digging and found some similar items and some things are the exact same product just a different color (like the denim jacket and the track pants).

Summer Chic In Stripes

For some reason I have had a difficult time finding weather appropriate clothing this summer. The biggest challenge for me is finding lightweight clothing that I can also nurse in. All of my short summer dresses have made their way to the back of my closet because in order to nurse in them I have to hike the whole dress up which cannot be done in public and not easily done in the car (a place I find myself nursing too often). A lot of my jumpsuits don’t work either becuase I can’t pull the straps down and most of my button up rompers and dresses are denim which is too heavy for this hot summer we are having. Insert this striped button front culotte jumpsuit. This jumpsuit has come to the rescue so many times this summer. When I want to wear something on trend but have my baby with me this jumpsuit is a no brainer.  The Breakdown:

I’ve been on the hunt for new wedges this summer and have yet to find a pair until now. I was searing for something similar to what I’m wearing in these photos but since these shoes are 3 years old they are no longer available. I did find these leather wedges by the same designer but only 3 sizes left! Luckily they have a pair in my size, woo hoo! Anyways, I just love this outfit. I wear this often with flats but it felt nice to dress up a little. This oversized denim jacket is perfect for summer, it had been too hot to even wear it but it’s perfect for those me when I’m with those that blast their AC.
