NBA Game Day Outfits || February & March

We are just now midway through March and here I am posting about March game day looks. As you all know season has come to a pause along with much else in our country and world. With All-Star Break happening in February and only one home game in March there aren’t too many outfits to share. But nonetheless, here are the past two months of game day looks.

2/5 Jazz v. DEN: I did not feel like getting dressed this night. Wearing this plaid joggers were like wearing sweatpants and was just what I needed. I tried to make the outfit look more pulled together with the leather jacket but I really should have worn heels with this look.
jacket | Joie
turtleneck | Alexander Wang
pants | Alice and Olivia
shoes | Vince

2/7 Jazz v. POR: This was my first time wearing this Chloe bag that was so kindly gifted to me from Fashionphile. It matches the Jazz City Edition jerseys perfectly and they thought I should have it! I now where it for every game the Jazz wear the city edition jerseys.
jacket | IRO
shirt | Current / Elliott
jeans | BDG
earrings | Leslie Ponder
shoes | Schutz
bag | Chloe

2/12 Jazz v. MIA: I didn’t go to this game because Michael ended up having the flu so we stayed home.

2/21 Jazz v. SAS: I had just got a shipment in of a few new things I ordered from Shopbop including this really cool faux leather top which is now 50% off. It is much cooler shirt in person and this photo doesn’t do it justice. My parents friends came in town this weekend and I knew I’d be doing a lot of walking with them so I made sure to wear comfortable shoes.
top | Habitual
jeans | Abercrombie
shoes | Dolce Vita

2/22 Jazz v. HOU
: This was the night I went to see the ice castles with my mom and a couple of her friends who were visiting. We went from the castles straight to the game so I did a quick change in the car!
jacket | Show Me Your Mumu
shirt | Dolce and Gabbana
boots | Paige
bag | Louis Vuitton

2/24 Jazz v. PHX: I feel a little too blogger-ish in this outfit and I think it’s because of the head scarf. I needed something for my hair because it was looking like I came straight from the gym!
jacket | Amazon
sweatshirt | Scotch and Soda
headscarf | Scrunci x Sincerely Jules
pants | Gap
shoes | Ash

2/26 Jazz v. BOS: I guess I forgot to take outfit pics the these two games. The Jazz were playing every other night and I must have been worn out, haha!

2/28 Jazz v. WAS: ditto from above.

3/9 Jazz v. TOR: The Jazz were wearing their city edition jerseys which meant I needed to wear my Chloe bag from Fashionphile.  I couldn’t find anything in my closet I wanted to wear with this bag so I went to my husbands closet and found this perfect mustard yellow bomber jacket. The jacket is definitely big and oversized on me but with it not zipped and the sleeves scrunched it wasn’t too unflattering. This was one of those night where the boys really wanted their picture with me. Typically I’m begging them to pose with me but here I couldn’t get an outfit shot without them!

NBA Game Day Outifts || October & November

I am pretty excited to be starting this monthly post of rounding up my game day outfits. Sharing the details of my game day outfits is how I started blogging in the first place. Before kids I would very strategically plan my outfits, I paid attention to the day of the week, the opposing team, the season, the weather and I’m sure some other details here and there. Last fall I went a little further in detail explaining how I pick my game day outfits, you can read that here. I will have to write another post for attending games with the Utah Jazz since the weather is obviously very different plus our parking situation is different! Stay tuned for that.

Before I share all the details let me warn you a lot of things I wear are from years past. If it is no longer available I will do my best to find the most similar option and if it is a designer piece I will try and find a look for less!

You will notice I don’t usually wear Jazz apparel to the games but did you know American Eagle has some very cute Utah Jazz clothing items and so does Old Navy (my boys have this shirt)!? Another crazy one that I would be all over if we were in Memphis is this Zadig&Voltair tank! I have been a fan of Zadig&Voltaire for quite some time and now they have come out with an NBA line, just waiting for a Jazz tank!

A Day In The Life Of Being Traded || Part 3: Moving

mint and rust outfitmint and rust outfitThe trade happened at the end of June and we started house hunting shortly after. Our whole family excitedly headed to Salt Lake City to officially get things started (You can read more on my emotions right after the trade here and my first Utah visit and the beginning of our house hunt here). We didn’t find a house but we were able too see some great neighborhoods and start to get a feel for what we liked and didn’t like.

One month later I headed out to Salt Lake City again, this time with out the kids. I love taking the boys with me everywhere but house hunting is not a very child friendly activity. Plus I was only out there for two days and a 2 hour time change for only 2 nights is not worth it for me. The boys were able to spend the weekend with their Gigi and Pops in Arkansas and had a blast, pretty sure they didn’t miss me at all. House hunting with just Michael was nice, we could really chat about all the details and what we liked and didn’t like. We even found a house that we put an offer on. The sellers didn’t like our offer, we didn’t like their counter so we moved and rust outfitmint and rust outfit

It was mid August now and I was starting to get a little anxious about the move. We were just about to list our house in Memphis to be sold and we were planning on arriving to Utah in September for the season. Michael reports extra early because he is an A++ student, the boys, dog and I usually follow a week or so later. If we don’t have a house to move into by mid September where are we going to stay?

September is in full swing, October will be here in just 5 days and we don’t have a house in Utah! Michael is currently renting a two bedroom condo and I am back in Ohio with the kids and pup while our Memphis house is half packed up with boxes filling the attic and garage. House or no house we are going to be in Utah the first week of October, right after training camp and just in time for the first pre-season game on October 5th. The boys have never shared a room so things could be interesting in our temporary condo. I want them to share a room someday but at this age it makes me nervous they’ll wake each other up before the other is ready. Fingers crossed this will work out perfectly and sharing a room will become a permanate thing. Our biggest issue with the condo is that they don’t allow dogs so I’m not sure what to do with Rio in the meantime, I could continue to stay back in Ohio but I’m so ready to be back as a family. We miss having daddy around and I miss my other half!

Ideally we would have loved to have rented a house but the renting options weren’t anything close to what I like. I really want to feel relaxed and at home in our house. I never moved growing up, went to college, then moved to Memphis and now I’m headed to Utah. That is not many moves in my 31 years of life so I’m not very comfortable with and rust outfitmint and rust outfitSome things on my check list are//
– neighborhood: I grew up an amazing neighborhood and in Memphis we lucked out with 2 great neighborhoods. They didn’t have sidewalks but they weren’t high traffic neighborhoods so we could easily take walks and jogs. A lot of the houses we liked that were in neighborhoods had such steep streets, even with sidewalks they would be hard to push a stroller up and impossible for myles to ride his bike.
– a yard: I didn’t think this would be a tough one but it is. There is a lot of change in grade in Utah so a lot of the yards have retaining walls or rock beds, there are yards with quite a bit of grass but some of it is too steep for the boys to play or the flat yard is out front which isn’t ideal.
– bedrooms: Our house in Memphis had a first floor master which is a must and the boys’s rooms upstairs which we didn’t like. One of them wakes up in the night and walking up the stairs in the middle of the night is not ideal and it scared me to have Myles at the top of the stairs (he can figure out all baby gates!) Most houses that do have a first floor master have all the guest rooms upstairs. It’s been trickier to find than I expected.

I gave up on the perfect neighborhood, the house we put an offer on only had 3 houses in it and only one guest room on the main floor with the master. Michael and I are both willing to give up a thing or two on our wishlist now that we have ran out of time. The most important thing is that the house flows for the kids and Rio.

More on moving from Memphis. It hasn’t really hit me that we aren’t coming back to Memphis yet. Since we aren’t typically in Memphis during the summer anyways I haven’t missed anything. I did go and get a start on packing up the house but all we packed were things inside of drawers, cabinets and closets. This way the house still looks put together for when potential buyers walk through. Plus, we have no where for the furniture to go aways because we have no house in Utah! If our house in Memphis sells before we can move into a house in SLC then we will have to put our stuff in and rust outfit

The Breakdown:
In love with these faux leather paperbag waist pants. They are so chic and look like very high end but they are actually under $35 and come in black too. These mules are the perfect height for me. I know shorter heels are in but the kitten heels just aren’t very flattering on me so I prefer a small heel that is more in the 2 1/2” range.  This outfit is a great summer to fall transition outfit because the pants have a leather vibe perfect for the cooler months but the crisp white is keeping in fresh for the warm weather we are actually having. The pearl hoops tie in all of the white accessories and the mint bodysuit is such an it color that it is a fun option paired with the rust colored pants.

*UPDATE* 9/29/19
I am pretty stressed and very frustrated! As you know we put an offer on a house months ago. The house’s main floor has totally be renovated and is really beautiful, the whole lower level has not been touched, it’s not horrible but I would definitely be updating a few things here and there. The comps that were used were from houses that have been listed for over 100 days and haven’t sold. Not good comps considering the houses haven’t sold. We also know the house is being listed for double and a half what the previous homeowners purchased it for. Now they did some nice renovations but that’s a big increase! We offered somewhere between what they purchased it for and what it was listed for. They countered at 3% of their asking price which is nothing!! I didn’t want to play the game of going back in forth a million times and I saw no meeting in the middle anytime soon. Moving on!

Michael finds another house while in Utah and I’m in Ohio. He really loves it, I fly out there, I love it too. There are only 2 things the house has or doesn’t have but that is pretty good compared to what we have been looking at! It’s the perfect size, close to a park and conveniently located to all the things I want. Yay!! So this house has also been renovated and is much more modern than I prefer but I can envision our furniture and softening the place up, maybe needing to change a light fixture or 2. Once again the comps are a little off, 2 are pulled from the neighborhood and 3 are pulled from 3 miles away. Three miles away!!! Those 3 miles happen to be from a prestigious gated neighborhood, so of course those houses are much more expensive than what we are looking at. Our realtor thought we should offer slightly above the comps in the neighborhood the listing agent was asking for above average of the 2 types of comps. Michael and I decided to offer something in the middle not to offend the homeowners and hope they will accept. We were wrong. They countered at the asking price since it was’t actually listed.

Oh, did I mention this listing agent is the same women from the previous house we put an offer on!!! A nightmare, we already had bad luck working with her, the comps she pulls are outrageous, she knows who my husband is, knows how much money he makes and knows we are (or have) run out of time. So we offer right in the middle between our original offer and their counter/asking price, denied, they counter back at -2% of the asking price. This agent does not budge! Our counter had been +9.5% our initial offer.

I feel like my life is upside down. The things we need in Utah are boxed up in Memphis. We can’t move them yet because we don’t have a house to move them to. I don’t want to pack up our whole house in case we downsize. We can’t bring the dog. I don’t know where to register Myles in school because I don’t know what neighborhood we will be in. I want to be in Utah as a family. I’m annoyed at the listing agent of the houses we want. These are the feelings I currently have. I know these are all minor things but I’m just having a rough moment. I am very excited to be reunited as a family, I am excited for our condo life for the next few weeks, hopefully not too much more than that. I have reached out to the Neat Method in hopes they will be available to help unpack and organize when the time comes. I am in the process of finding someone to care for the dog. I’m ordering a few new toys and things for the boys.

All is good.

Our First Family Disney Trip

mike conley disney worldA couple weeks ago my family boarded a Southwest flight to Orlando for our first ever trip to Disney World as a family. I took Myles to Disney in March 2017 with a few girlfriends and their children. We had such a great time we thought we should make this a frequent thing, maybe even bring our husbands along! All of our spouses play in the NBA so we knew they wouldn’t be jumping for joy with our proposal but if we told our husbands that the other guys were going we knew we could get them on board. This group was all on the Memphis Grizzlies together during the 2014-2015 season and are now scattered across the country on different teams. At the time of planning, no one was on a playoff team which meant we could actually plan a trip! Everyone’s off season would officially start on April 11th and we were free to travel. We hoped sometime in May would work since that would give a few weeks to relax and rest and was early enough before training started. southwest flightMay rolled right on by and there was no trip to Disney. The first week of June Michael got his list of work opportunities and obligations for the summer which included a trip to Orlando for the Jr NBA Global Championship and opening of the Disney’s NBA Experience Grand Opening. Yup, yup, yup! A work trip to Orlando meant there was another chance our friend family vacation could happen! I definitely encouraged Michael to take that work opportunity because the kids could be involved and there really aren’t many opportunities provided where the kids can join. Now I just had to check in with my 3 friends and see if their spouses were available which is the hard part. No secret here, they were available and our trip to Disney was booked!

Us girls had talked about bringing one of our parents/grandparents or a sitter along on the trip so we could have some adult time. I understood going to dinner without the kids but I wasn’t sure about going to the parks without the kids. Isn’t that the whole reason to go to Disney World is for your kids to experience it all? That is not the case. I’m still new to the whole Disney situation but people LOVE it! There were so many families walking around without children and there are thrill rides that the little kids can’t go on. We brought my mom along on the trip and I was so happy to have her. She is just like me but more calm about things making my life so much easier! She was able to join the fun during the day with everyone and she would watch the kids during naps and evening while the adult kids went on the rides and had dinner.

We all had Park Hopper Tickets and Fast Passes and one of the days we all had a tour guide as well so we were able to do a lot of jumping around. If you plan on visiting more than one park in a day you need to get the Park Hopper and if you want to not stand in line as long get the Fast Passes! You’ll also want to be organized prior to arriving. Figure out what rides you’ll go on at which parks and where they are located. If you have children find out what rides have height restrictions.

Day 1 //
We arrived on a a Saturday to the Grand Floridian, a beautiful white hotel with a red roof where the monorail system can easily take you to the parks. My mom, Michael, the kids and I started our vacation on the Na’vi River Journey in Animal Kingdom. It was so hot on this trip it was great to find rides that were in air conditioned buildings like the Na’vi River. I chose Animal Kingdom as our first stop to go on the Kilimanjaro Safari. This ride is always a hit for my kids since they are huge animal lovers. After the Safari we went to the Dino-Rama area. It is a dinosaur lover’s dream come true. The Boneyard is located here which is really cool, kids can dig up dinosaur bones. I quickly walked past this area because it was so hot, digging in sand did not seem like the best idea. We did all ride the Tricera Top Spin, except for Noah because he fell asleep.mike conley disney worldmagic kingdom fireworksThis wrapped up our fun for the evening at Animal Kingdom. It had been a really long day of travel plus a couple missed naps made the day even longer. We grabbed food at a quick service restaurant then headed to Magic Kingdom to see the fireworks. Seeing the fireworks was pushing it because they are so late and as I stated before, traveling and no scheduled nap. I had no idea how they boys were going to react to them but luckily it was a hit! We all were looking forward to a good nights rest!family

Day 2//
My mom, the boys and I went downstairs for breakfast then headed to the parks (Michael had to work so he couldn’t join us). Our first stop of the day was to Hollywood Studios. When I went to Disney in 2017 I didn’t come here so I was curious to see what it had to offer. We were signed up to see The Beauty and The Beast show and had a little time to spare so I rode the Rock ’n’ Rollercoaster and laughed so hard, by myself, LOL. I couldn’t remember the last time I had rode a rollercoaster, I love them! We also jumped on the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, the great thing about that ride is it is air conditioned and a great place to sit and cool down. Back to the show we went, Myles was a little nervous and looked uncomfortable throughout the show and Noah looked like he was in a dream, he could not take his eyes off the show. Our next stop was Toy Story Midway Mania which is a fun interactive ride that my mom and I enjoyed more than my kids! Points were tallied throughout the ride so we got competitive!

Everyone thought Myles would love Slinky Dog Dash but he was a bit scared. It is a wonderful rollercoaster for kids, you only have to be 38” to ride. It was Myles’s first ever rollercoaster and the lap bar was pushed down a little too tight so he kept saying his stomach hurt on the ride and I don’t blame him. I was laughing my head off riding with him but was trying to be comforting at the same time. We wanted to end our morning on a more relaxing fun note so we did the Dumbo ride which is a classic ride that goes in circles and up and down. Noah loves that ride too! After this ride we tried to keep the boys awake on the ride back to the hotel for a quick little bite to eat and long solid naps. Which luckily happened.slinky dog dash
Myles coudn’t stop talking about the safari ride so after naps we went back to Animal Kingdom. We got to see some new animals that weren’t out the previous day so it was well worth it. Noah was more awake than the first time we went so he was able to enjoy it more. After the safari we went to the Festival of The Lion King which is an amazing show! Myles was once again a little nervous and Noah kept climbing out of my lap to go be in the show- very different personalities! It was a quick trip second time around at Animal Kingdom but the days are long at Disney so there is no problem headed back early if you feel like you’ve covered enou
gh ground. The adult only dinner was this night was I needed to get back to get ready!

Reservations were at 8:00 pm at Capa, the rooftop restaurant at the Four Season Resort. Michael and I were the first to arrive which isn’t the norm but it felt so good! I sipped on a cocktail while enjoying the views from the balcony. During dinner the girls sat on one side and the boys on the other. We realized we had a lot of catching up to do and there was no reason to be talking over our spouses! Dinner lasted hours and could have lasted much longer but they closed so we had to skedaddle!mike and mary conley

DAY 3//
A car was to be at our hotel at 8:15 am to take us to the Disney NBA Experience Grand Opening. After the official work portion for Michael was over the boys were able to play games and enjoy the facilities. If you are a basketball fan I highly recommend coming here. It also would be a great place to add to your itinerary if you know it’s going to be a rainy day.disney nba experienceAfter the NBA Experience we met up with

After the NBA Experience we met up with all our friends at Magic Kingdom since we hadn’t done that park yet (other than to see fireworks). There is soooo much to do at Magic Kingdom. If you have young kids make sure Magic Kingdom is at the top of your list. There are rides all of the park and it’s big so look at a map and plan accordingly. We did Peter Pan’s Flight, Dumbo The Flying Elephant, Mad Tea Party, It’s A Small World, the carousel, Journey of the Little Mermaid, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Tomorrowland Transit. We were about to head home to put the kids down for naps and to dodge a storm but remembered we hadn’t got family photos in front of the castle so we quickly walked there. We did not beat the rain but we did get our photos!carousel nba players
We all went back to our hotels to get the kids down for naps so we could go out and do adult rides. The adults went to Animal Kingdom to ride Expedition Everest. We all rode this ride but a handful of our crew were scared! Including my husband! I knew he wasn’t a roller coaster type of person so I was really proud that he did it but a few of the others were shaking and nervous too! I loved it so much I did it twice, the ride goes backwards!! We also went to Pandora which was amazing!! We got to ride Avatar Flight of Passage just before they had to close it down, we were very lucky. Michael liked this ride and he isn’t a roller coaster person so I highly recommend this ride to everyone, especially if you want to know what it feels like to fly.NBA playes hollywood studios
We also hopped over to Hollywood Studios so we could ride the Tower of Terror and the Rock ’n’ Rollercoaster for those who weren’t scared. Walking around the park without our children had such a different vibe. It was like we were in high school with our friends, dating and riding rides at an amusement park. So much more fun than I could have imagined. The guys had to go workout and shoot so we parted ways.Us girls checked in with the kids to make sure they were all set for dinner and bedtime and we went to Epcot for our reservations at Chefs de France. While we waited for our reservation we walked around while sipping on frozen rosé. This was such a fun girls night. To find true friends in the NBA is unusual and I am so lucky to have found so many great friends through the NBA. There have been a lot of girls come in and out of the Memphis Grizzlies and I was the one that remained. Even when girls left because their husbands/boyfriends got traded we still kept in touch. A big season is coming up for me because I am the one who has left. I am headed to the Utah Jazz and I’m looking forward to meeting the players and their wives and hopefully we can build more life long friendships. I was grateful to be able to talk to the girls about our big move since they had all done this a few times.

Day 4//
This was our last day. My family headed to the Four Seasons where our friends were staying to enjoy a character breakfast and a day at the pool. You never know what you are going to get with 5 kids ages 4 1/2 – 1. There was a lot of food on the floor and toys scattered but so much fun!! There were so many pools to play in, the babies loved the kid area because it is all very shallow with plenty of fountains to run through, it’s also near by the entrance to the water slides that my mom, Michael and I loved and to the lazy river which we all loved! I love this group of friends and to be with them and our children was just the best.wags four season disney
I was happy to walk around the parks with Michael, my mom and the boys during our first family Disney trip. Since we were there for Michaels work we were provided a guide for the duration of our stay which was extremely helpful. I know not everyone has access to a guide but they can take up to 10 people so it may be worth it for a splurge if you can share it with another family. When preparing for your trip you will absolutely want to get a map of each park. Figure out what rides your children can do and where they are located. There is a lot of walking to be done and you don’t want to take any extra steps if you don’t have to.

A Day In The Life Of Being Traded || Part 2: House Hunting

There has been another step to being traded and that is house hunting! If you missed Part 1 of this series where I discussed the emotional aspect of being traded and shared my personal feelings, you can read that here. My emotions about the trade have settled down and I have mentally grasped the fact I will be moving from Memphis. Now I have that anxious feeling of finding a house that I can turn into our home.

Last week I was in Salt Lake City and I really enjoyed myself.  I was there to get a feel for my new town and to find a house for us to live in! I know this isn’t our permanent house but as long as I am living in Utah (or anywhere for that matter) I want to feel comfortable in the house and I want it to feel like a home. I want a great neighborhood, friendly and kind neighbors, Target, a grocery store and a Homegoods/Marshalls not too far away and a few more things on my list. I’m trying not to be too picky but our home in Memphis was just perfect. When I say I want to pick up the whole neighborhood and move it, I’m not kidding.

There are about 3 different neighborhoods we are hoping to find a house in. We did find a few houses that we really like and could work for us but we aren’t 100% sold. We want to see if anything else pops up. When I am looking at houses I am always thinking of the kids and our dog. If there are too many stairs or steps in the house or if there isn’t much grass in the backyard then it is not a house for us. Finding a good yard as been more challenging than I thought. Since most of the houses are in the mountains, the yards have retaining walls and are staggered which isn’t ideal for a dog to run and play or young kids for that matter.

Something new I learned about Salt Lake City is that the air quality can be poor. Mainly in the winter (January to be exact) when there are no storms to move the polluted air out and it settles in the valley between the mountains. A lot of people think dry dessert when they think of Utah and I always thought mountains. I’m not sure if I thought about dry or humid air and I definitely didn’t think about the air quality. I often think of LA with poor air quality and how you can see the smog when you fly into LAX. I’ll have to see if my throat and chest feel different during these times.

I’ll be back to discuss the actual moving process once we do find a house. Hope we find something soon!

The Breakdown:
I love that this dress looks like separates. Everytime I wear it people ask me where my skirt is from. It has been perfect for summer and can see it easily transition to fall. This white handbag is larger than it looks and can hold everything I need. I wear this dress all the time, often to the park, the zoo and out and about to the mall and stores. It’s easy to throw on and looks adorable with sneakers or sandals. This was my frist time wearing heels with it and I love how it turned out.

A Day In The Life Of Being Traded || Part 1: Finding Out

being traded in the NBAThe waves were crashing, the sun was beaming and I was enjoying reading my book on the beach during my family’s annual vacation. My mom, sister and brother were near by and my brother informed me Michael got traded to the Utah Jazz. At that moment, my life was shook. Nothing had really changed but my mind started racing and I knew what was coming. I had known the trade was coming and we were pretty sure it was going to be to Utah but the known didn’t make it any easier. That’s the thing about being traded, it can happen at anytime. I did everything I could not to shed a tear because I knew if I started I wouldn’t be able to stop. Why was a I about to cry? Many reasons. being traded in the NBA being traded in the NBAbeing traded in the NBAThe first reason I wanted to cry was because I didn’t hear the news from Michael and he wasn’t there. Michael made it on the first part of the trip but had to get back home for workouts and training. This is how we have done my family’s vacation since day one and it works for us. We are good at being a part when we need to be but I start to go a little stir crazy if it’s more than a week. Even day 3, I start counting down the days. I miss my partner, my other half, my children’s father, it’s tough being away from your spouse. Now, I wanted to be with him more than ever to discuss this big life changing news and I still had 24 hours till we would be back together. The next day would be June 20th, NBA draft night and we thought the trade was going to happen than, not now when we were a handful of states away.

We knew a trade needed to happen for his career to grow. We had been talking about this moment since he was put on the trading block last February. I had moments with myself when I would cry at the thought of leaving my life in Memphis. Now I am definitely leaving Memphis and I can’t stop crying. It isn’t because I am not excited about moving to Utah. I am very excited and am grateful to move to this beautiful state. I plan on skiing and teaching my boys how to ski, going on hikes and being outdoors as often as possible. I am a huge nature girl, enjoy life at a slow pace and like to surround myself with nice people and I think I’ll fit in perfectly in Salt Lake City.

When I graduated college and planned on moving to Memphis it was really hard. I flew home often to visit my family and friends and every time I flew back to Memphis I cried. I missed my family so much and I wasn’t that happy in Memphis. I was 22 years old and had gone from college life of living with 5 girls to this NBA life, living with my boyfriend and his cousins. It was a very hard transition. I never moved growing up, my parents still live in the same house I was brought home to from the hospital. I did move away for college but since it was for college I new it was temporary. When I moved to Memphis I knew it was temporary too but we got lucky, I lived there for 10 years. Most players spend a contract, maybe 2, with one team, it’s common for guys to spend one season on multiple different teams. We were so fortunate to have had the opportunity to build a life in Memphis that I will be forever grateful for making it that much harder to leave.

Not moving was an option. For me and and for our boys. It’s sad to say but a lot of these guys are traded so often it is too hard on the family to pick up and move everything every single time, especially if children are involved. Our children are young enough that they won’t be affected by this change but it still breaks my heart for Myles to leave his little friends he did make in Memphis. Staying in Memphis didn’t cross my mind. I have my foot in so many doors, I have built more relationships than I can count but I am going to do my best to build that again. For all of the friends I am leaving behind, I know I will stay in touch with them! I hope Utah has a kind blogging community and a fashion industry.

Something people outside of the NBA world don’t understand is how hard this is on the wife. I don’t recall seeing the “WAGS” on the MTV shows worrying about trades and moves. Maybe one here and there (I actually didn’t watch the show) but it happens a lot. Michael is moving for his job, he is going to be provided a team, friendships and a routine while I am following behind him to find my own friends and build relationships from the ground. These players spend more time with their team than they do with their family as it is. That’s just the way of this life. That’s why I was grateful to have loved my life in Memphis and the people who became family.

This is Part 1 of a series of I don’t know how many. I will be taking you along this life changing journey to give you an inside look of what it’s really like to be a wife of an athlete.
