Time to stock up on a few of my tried and true products that I buy time and time again. I’m sure you have heard by now that Sephora’s Beauty Insider event has started and you can save on your favorite products! When Sephora has their sales (which only happens twice a year!) I like to stock up on the more expensive products that I use regularly. I also use this time to try a new product that I felt was too expensive. Below you can see my favorite products that I keep going back to. If you want to see new products I’m interested in trying, check out this blog post from the spring Sephora sale.
Lancome Skin Feels Good || This has the best scent and I’m not into smelly products because they make me sneeze. I also love the amount of coverage that this provides, it’s very light. Days that I want even less coverage I mix it with my moisturizer. In the summer I use shade 04N Golden Sand and the next shade lighter I use is 035W Almond.
Tarte Fake Awake Eyeliner || If you aren’t sleeping well and wake up daily with red-rimmed eyes you need this! Right after I had my third baby this summer I went right to Sephora to buy this!
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer || Feels good to find a product that really works for your skin. I love the coverage of this concealer and that it comes in a mini size which is great to keep in your bag and for travel.
Invisi Bobble Sprunchie Scrunchie || This scrunchi got me at checkout one day and I’m glad it did. It really is the perfect hair tie to use while washing your face and to wear your hair up in at night. It has yet to leave a crease in my hair.
Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel || I got a sample of these and recently used it and really want to use it more. I ordered the 30 pack and hope to see my dark spots lighten.
Drunk Elephant Glycolic Night Serum || This might be my 5th time purchasing this product. It’s a great night serum, I know when to apply it, I know it’s good for my skin and easy for me to use. It is a bit pricey which is why I highly suggest buying this now during the sale!
Nars Blush in Luster || Most everyone has Nars blush in orgasm and I also have had it. I wanted something different that was warm soft. The woman who sold this to me has much darker skin than I do and she was wearing it. This is a pretty universal shade with the perfect amount of shimmer.
Benefit Gimme Brow || I have so many of these that even I’m tired of seeing them around but I can’t go a day without applying this to my brows. My eyebrows are pretty long and this brushes them nicely while giving them a slight tint.
T3 Whirl Trio Interchangeable Styling Wand Set || I’m always amazed by how different my curls look by using a different size or shaped wand. This trio is a great set that covers you for all the styles.
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes || I’ve only used one tube of this but I’ll definitely be buying it again. I used to be a dedicated fan of the Marc Jacobs mascara but felt like it started to make my lashes clump. This Tarte mascara lengthens and lifts my lashes making my eyes look more awake.
Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek || I’m sure a lot of you have this because it was included in Sephora’s birthday gift this year. I added this to my cart since my small sample size is almost out! This product will be especially great during the dry months to achieve that dewy look. It’s the perfect amount of shine on your lips and easily blends on your cheeks!
Shiseido Eyelash Curler || Can you tell I’m all about the eyes these days. With wearing a mask everywhere we go and only our eyes showing our expressions I have been giving my eyes a little more attention. I took a break from curling my lashes but have started again and love the lift.

Pregnancy safe skincare is one of the first topics of conversation when you find out you’re pregnant. As we know, what we put in our bodies is just as important as what we put on our bodies. Our bodies need a lot of TLC during pregnancy, not just our faces. We all worry about stretch marks, loss of elasticity, and moisture loss and there are definitely ways to help with those areas of concern. I wanted to share some pregnancy-safe body products I have enjoyed using to help with stretch marks and what I used to help with restless legs at night!
During my first and second pregnancies, I used Palmer’s Cocoa Butter. It was easy to find at any store and I knew the brand. I had thought about using the fancier brands just because but knew that was silly- even though those products smell really nice! I’m still primarily using Palmer’s but I have also been using a couple of other products mixed into my routine.
When I travel I don’t like to take the lotions in case they spill/explode on the flight. I like to pack the butters and balms when I travel. During this pregnancy, I was introduced to Bamboobies. Bamboobies is also sold around most stores, like Target, and is easy to find. I prefer the texture of Bamboobies Belly Balm over Palmer’s Tummy Butter so I opted for Bamboobies for the few travels I had this summer. The Bamboobies Belly Balm is a bit lighter and easier to get out of the container. The Palmer’s Tummy Butter is harder and I felt like you needed a lot more heat to get it to rub into the skin. I also don’t love the cocoa smell of Palmer’s but it has never made me nauseous. This leads me to my next product.
Ok, so this next one is a splurge and I was introduced to it from The Skinny Confidential. It is Elemis Japanese Camellia Body Oil Blend. Camellia oil is great for the body, hair, and skin, whether you are pregnant or not. This has such a wonderful scent that isn’t too strong. Throughout my pregnancy, I would use one pump of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lotion with a handful of drops of Elemis Camellia Body Oil. The smell of the oil takes out the cocoa smell from the lotion and just feels so much better. I love that I can use Elemis Body Oil after I have the baby also. It’s a treat to be able to apply it after I shower which is definitely something everyone deserves!
Lastly, I want to quickly mention 8 Sheep Organics. I had often talked on social media about how I had really bad restless leg syndrome (RLS) and was wearing a variety of compression socks that was helping a little. Someone had suggested I try 8 Sheep Organics, a product to help reduce leg cramps and help with RLS. It also relieves lower back pain and joint pain, calms your mind and body, and moisturizes your skin. I felt like a combination of this product and the compression socks were game-changers for me. I have to say, I never got a Charlie horse this pregnancy!
I’d love to hear what your pregnancy skin remedies are!

Since turning 3o this past year I have started taking much better care of my skin. It’s tough seeing my fine lines grow as I get older. I am ok with aging but I’d like to do it gracefully and at a slow pace! I am much more consistent with my skincare routine and I’ve also started to treat myself to a facial every 6 weeks or so compared to the once or twice a year in the past. My Bluff City Lights friends introduced me to a HydroFacial at A Beautiful You Medical Spa and I am now obsessed.
A HyrdroFacial is done in three steps — cleanse, hydrate and infuse. In this first step, we uncover a new layer of skin by gently exfoliating and resurfacing. This will leave your pores exposed for extraction & hydration. In this second step, a painless suction method is used to remove oil and debris from your pores, then a moisturizer is applied to hydrate your skin to its optimal level. The last step is to infuse the skin with antioxidants and peptides. The peptides are used to build up the production of collagen, promoting more youthful, glowing skin. The antioxidants are to protect your skin from free radicals that can damage your skin cells, helping reduce the signs of aging.
In addition to the HydraFacial blue or red LED light therapy can be done. The blue light is used on acne spots and helps the appearance of oily and congested skin by killing bacteria. Red light therapy helps stimulate the production of collagen and calm the skin. I had heard so many things about hyrdrofacials but I never knew how it was different from other facials. HydroFacial actually combines elements of microdermabrasion and chemical peels but is less invasive. The tool used during a hyrdofacial is not an abrasive device, it uses a spiral suction tip that dislodges impurities. The treatment is absolutely painless and there is no downtime. There may be a little redness immediately following but will fade away within a couple hours.
HyrdoFacials are great for any skin type and is great for treating, fine lines, brown spots, enlarged poors, oily skin and elasticity. I took a few before pictures of my forehead, my eyes and a few other areas of my face that have spots on them. I cannot wait to see the difference after a few hydrofacials.
Bluff City Lights is partnering with A Beautiful You Med Spa to give one lucky reader a free HydraFacial! Giveaway is from 1/30 – 2/1 and the winner will be announces on 2/4/19.

Since becoming a mother for the second time my body has once again gone through a number of changes, especially my skin. Not only has it changed due to hormones but I have found I have less time to take care of it. I’ve never been one to have a skincare routine until I found Lavelier, a skincare line whos key ingredient is antioxidant-rich coral seaweed. Since receiving their Marine Essentials collection I have taken time to myself every morning and evening to care for my skin. Washing my face, applying moisturizer and giving my skin some attention has become one of my favorite parts of the day.
My mornings start with cleansing my face with Lavelier Biology Mousse Cleanser followed with Lavelier Marine Deep Moisturizer, a moisturizer that helps fight fatigue and fine lines is just what I need! My mornings are actually started with getting my boys fed and happy, brewing some decafe coffee and then giving myself some attention. I then apply an SPF and any makeup I need for the day. In the evening, I remove my makeup then wash my face with the Biology Mousse Cleanser followed with Lavelier Marine Evening Repair Cream and Lavelier Eye Firming Concentrate. On special nights when I really want to give myself the spa treatment I apply their Intensive Facial Peel, I do this once or twice a week. This gentle exfoliating peel is probably my favorite, it’s cool and smooth when applied and make my skin feel extremely soft afterwards.
There is one more special product, Lavelier Advanced Marine Bio-Syringe. This syringe is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and DMAE making it a very powerful anti-wrinkle treatment. Since this product contains DMAE I will be saving it for when I’m done nursing but I did have to try it just once and wow does it work! I have fine lines across my forehead that drive me crazy and this product made them disappear within minutes! By the way, the syringe is fake, you don’t actually have to use a needle, it’s just super cute packaging.
I’m not interested in botox or fillers anything putting any sort of needles in my face (for now that is) but I am really interested in applying products that will help with fine lines and dark spots. The older I get the more I am willing to spend on my skincare products because I really want to have great healthy and moisturized skin.
Thank you Lavelier for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
