Fall Sweater Vests for Under $100

fall sweater vestsFull of texture and layers, fall fashion is always a fun one to style. Sweater vests are strong this season and they are so versatile. I chose to wear mine alone since we are at the beginning of fall, I haven’t felt the need to layer it over a collared shirt quite yet. I added another fall trend to my outfit, pinstripes, with these affordable pants from H&M.

Sweater vests seem quite preppy to me, which is not my style so I had to find another way to wear it and feel comfortable. Sneakers with pinstripes and a sweater vest are very unexpected and more my style. If you want to style a sweater vest in a more classic way layer it over a white collared shirt, slip on some straight-leg jeans, and finish your look off with a killer pair of boots.

Another fun thing about sweater vests is that they are so much easier to wear under coats and jackets compared to a sweater. I know when I wear a sweater my arms always feel tight when I have a jacket on also. Sweater vests are the perfect layering piece when you want to add more texture to your outfit. How do you feel about sweater vests? Are you willing to try and pull it off!?

The Breakdown:
I love layering for fall but when it isn’t quite chilly enough there is no need to layer. Wearing only a sweater vest still gives all the fall vibes. I love the different textures I have in this outfit with the pinstripe pants and sweater vest. To keep things casual I added some high-top Nike sneakers. I am mixing different styles but keeping the whole outfit in the same color palette so things don’t look too crazy!

Wrapping Up Shorts Season

sport chic in shortsHappy Friday! I am so happy today because I am able to share my new blog with you all! I have been working with Smash Creative for the past few months and love what we have put together. There are a few new features that I know you will love and I can’t wait to share more content with you guys.

Last week it snowed, not only in the mountains but at our house. We woke up and could barely see the grass. We had enough snow that the boys put on their snow clothes and played outside, they even made a couple of snow angels. I think I was the only one in the house not thrilled by the glittering white substance that graced our yard. I only felt that way because it was still early October, winter was here and I didn’t know where fall had gone. I thought for sure shorts season was over. Luckily, fall is back and we have had a beautiful couple of days!

I was able to wear shorts yesterday (the outfit I wore is on sale!) and this is today’s look. After looking at the forecast for the next 10 days I’m pretty confident it’s time to wrap up shorts season for fall in SLC. It really is so easy to swap one item of an existing outfit and make it appropriate for a new season. This look will soon be transformed for cooler weather with jeans and boots.

Are you still able to wear shorts in your city?

I honestly never considered my style to be sporty until one of my followers mentioned it after I asked to describe my style. Now I see it often in my outfits and love my sporty side. I still love to look pulled together and always make sure my sporty outfits are chic. The weather it pretty cool where I’m living but the sunny days are hot so a jacket is a must right now. Fall fashion always seems more structured to me which is why I added this oversized blazer.

Summer Dress With A Sporty Twist

sporty summer dress
A while back I had asked you guys what you thought my style was and I was surprised by how many people said sporty. I shouldn’t have been surprised. When I see photos of me dressed up I often have on sneakers or joggers. I love adding a sporty twist to my outfits, perhaps it’s because of all the time I spend in arenas!

This summer I will continue my sporty style with summer dresses. I’ll wear my midi dresses with low tops and above the knee dresses with hightops. When it is really hot outside I can’t stand to wear sneakers, my feet need to breath! Of course I have my fair share of sandals that I adore but sneakers are somtimes the practical choice for walking around a lot, playing with my kids and giving off that sporty vibe.

The Breakdown:
The last time I wore this dress was 13 months ago to Memphis Fashion Week and I was 36 weeks pregnant with Noah. I love to wear fitted dresses during pregnancy to show off my bump. When you are past the 7 month mark and your belly is large, looser fitting clothes can swallow you all up. Since the last time I wore this dress I 40 pounds heavier I had no idea how it would fit. I actually never thought I’d wear it again because it is a very thin material and my body did not shrink back the way it did pre-pregnancy. Nothing a little Spanx can’t fix. I’m so glad I held on to this dress, I love the color and how easily it can be dressed up or down or even sporty.

One Piece, Three Styles || Leopard Skirt

It’s that time of month again. Time to share one fab clothing item styled three different ways. Since December is filled with holiday events I decided to go with the fesitve leopard tulle skirt. It is extrememly affordable and can be worn so many different ways, I almost did 5 different styles!

Festive //
When teh party invitations says festive I make sure to wear something that says sparkle! It could be sequins, glitter or rhinestones, most likely 2 out of the 3 will be on my body. In this look I have glitter on my heels and rhinestone drop earrings. Wearing a chunky green sweater keeps the look winter ready, the skirt adds some femininity, the leopard print gives it some personality and the bling says party!

Sporty Chic //
I love mixing styes together and in this case I did sporty, feminine and classic. I don’t wear button-downs often, nor do I wear skirts often but this outfit just came together that way. I would wear this outfit to volunteer at your kids school holiday party or to work on a casual dress down day.

Edgy Glam//

This look is very me. I love adding a classic black leather jacket to any of my feminine outfits. It makes me feel more  comfortable and more myself. Adding the brocade booties was a fun touch, the colors in the boots go with the colors in my dino shirt making them the perfect pairing. I wore this shirt with jeans in this post and I love how playful it makes any outfit.

The Breakdown:
Who would have a thought a leopard skirt could be worn in so many different styles. I didn’t until I started putting outfits together, along with these three I’m sharing I also wore this skirt to a baby shower! You know I am a fan of mixing high and low fashion price points and these outfits include a wide range of fashion brands. Below are are the details.
